Alaska

🗓️ June 2003

In 2002, the summer after 9/11, people weren’t flying like they had been before the attacks. Somehow my parents found out about a deal to Hawaii and decided to bite. I remember being so scared to get on a plane. My mom kept saying if something happens, then we’ll all go out together. The we being me, my mom, dad and brother. That gave me little solace, but off we went and ended up having a great time. The next summer travel was still quite discounted so my parents decided since we did Hawaii, we should do Alaska too. So that’s what we did. We flew to Seattle and spent a few days there before embarking on a cruise up to Alaska. I remember not wanting to go… like at all. It was summer! Why would I want to go somewhere cold in the middle of the summer?? Ughhhh. Such a brat, I know 😅😬🫣 But omg let me tell you, one of the most amazing places I’ve ever been! I loved it!!! I even told my parents afterwards that I liked it better than Hawaii lol. So yea, Alaska = teen girl approved. Breathtaking scenery, unspoiled nature. Truly the last frontier and I highly recommend.
