Rhode Island
📍 Providence and and via from Rhode Island to Massachusetts

I’ve been to Rhode Island twice. The first time was on a road trip through New England with my family the summer after I finished my first year of grad school. We were on our way from Cape Cod to the Berkshires and decided to spend a day in Providence. My mom had a cousin growing up who moved to the area. Sadly, she passed away a while back. But it was nice to walk around and think of her. My mom and I love to walk around colleges and universities too, their towns. I don’t know what it is… just such a vibe for us. So we visited Brown while were there and loved.

I have an aunt and cousins I love very much who live on the East Coast. In 2023 one of my cousins was in her final year of grad school at Columbia. My aunt and other cousin, her sister, decided to spend a weekend in New York visiting her. We had so much fun that weekend bopping around the city together we vowed to try to do something like it at least every other year. In the fall of 2025 we made good on that promise and spent a weekend in southeastern Connecticut. While there, we decided to venture over to Rhode Island, too. We spent the day in Newport walking, shopping and eating. It was decorated so nicely for the season. Then we headed over to Narragansett for the evening where we had a late dinner before sitting outside to enjoy one of the restaurant’s bonfires along the coast.
