I can’t claim to know Belgium well. I only spent a day there passing through from Amsterdam in The Netherlands to Calais in France with my friend Kristin as part of our Euro trip in the summer of 2009.

A lovely day we had, though. We walked around Bruges admiring the architecture; our heads exploding a little more each time we saw a building marked as being built earlier than the one prior. Did you know most of the structures seen there now are from the Middle Ages? 🤯 We also drank Belgian beer, ate Belgian chocolates and even had Belgian waffles. So very basic, I know. Oh, to be young.

Before writing this blog I never really thought about going back to Belgium. But since scrolling through my pictures, I’ve realized how much I would love to return. Spend more time there, see Bruges again with older eyes. I also love flowers and, fun fact — used to own a flower business. I learned about a floral retreat on the other side of the country that I’m interested in. We shall see ✨
